Cascade House

Presenting Cascade House, a West Coast Modern homage to Frank Lloyd Wright’s organic architecture, nestled in an enchanting creekside setting.

Inspired by Wright’s Fallingwater, the North Vancouver home melds seamlessly with its parkland surroundings, creating a transportive multisensory experience. Effortless cantilevered over Wagg Creek, it recalls Wright’s iconic design, blending the gentle murmurs of flowing water with subdued woodland tranquility. Expansive windows flood its spaces with dappled forest light, accentuating the meticulous interior brick and wood millwork. Together, these elements unite to dissolve the line between inside and outside, imparting a serene balance throughout.

Echoing a profound architectural legacy, Cascade House is poised to welcome its next custodian.

Introducing the Cascade House, where the spirit of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater meets the serenity of a private, forested waterway.

Echoing Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Fallingwater, Cascade House was indended to embrace the existing Wagg Creek terrain, creating layered spatial experiences unfolding in succession bordering a city-owned woodland.

A family affair, Casade House was originally designed by Allen E Smith for his son, who was also the builder of the house. A source of inpiration to the current custodians, a creative couple hailed from L.A., Cascade House is ready to enchant its next custodians.

“I think nothing yet ever equalled the coordination, sympathetic expression of the great principle of repose where forest and stream and rock and all the elements of structure are combined so quietly that really you listen not to any noise whatsoever...”

– Frank Lloyd Wright on Fallingwater
Talk to the Taliesin Fellowship, May 1, 1955
